An inspiring new project in Argyll will see professional musicians coming together to produce and launch an album, Made in Argyll.
This exciting and inaugural collaboration led by Scottish musician, Joe McAlinden, and Grammy award winning music producer and sound engineer, David Donaldson, will bring together Argyll’s musicians over three days of total immersion as part of the launch of the Music Makes Me project.
The musicians will work together, writing, composing and producing, to create an album of original work. The program will take place in Cowal, in rural Argyll, where the inspiring landscapes and tranquil setting will allow for music to be the main focus for the three day event.
The project seeks to bring creative professionals together to explore, share, and develop new work and concepts, bringing ideas into fruition, delivering exciting, engaging and excellent audience ready work.
The Music Makes Me programme is open to all Argyll musicians and lyricists and provides a unique and exciting opportunity to participate in sessions led by music industry professionals, covering a variety of different aspects of creating and producing music, from songwriting to performing techniques, to recording and producing their own work.
Led by Joe McAlinden, the artists will build on their original work in a supportive, friendly atmosphere, allowing creative ideas to develop within the group. Joe and David Donaldson will work on-site with the musicians to develop their musical works, and producing the work into an album – Made in Argyll.
“Creative professionals in Argyll face unusual challenges in their diverse practices. We live in a vast and extraordinarily beautiful environment, which can both inspire and isolate us. Music Makes Me is an opportunity to bring people together, collaborating to produce world class work.” [Sadie Dixon-Spain, Artistic Director of The Walking Theatre Company.]
