TWTC’s big weekend!

What a weekend it has been for The Walking Theatre Company!

Three diverse shows in three very different locations, over three fun-tastic days!

Our bonanza began on Friday 16th of August, when we travelled to Arduaine Gardens in Argyll, for a spot of Murder Mystery…but this time, it wasn’t over the dinner table!

Arduaine Gardens is a stunning National Trust for Scotland site south of Oban, which has stunning views and walks, perfect for a TWTC production!

Nancy has a vision…

An intrepid audience of over 60 were brave enough to walk with us through the ‘Haunted Garden’, where Hector Plasm and Lucy Fir were up to no good…what a surprise! We had such a fantastic time, and despite the rain falling the whole day, it managed to spare us for the majority of the walk!

One of our lovely audience members, Mr. Alexander Hamilton, said after the event:

“It is possible to die of gluttony, a surfeit of lampreys is an early marker for such, what you cannot do is suffer from a surfeit of The Walking Theatre Company. It is possible to die of stress bought on by excessive laughter, and I am surprised that there is not a disclaimer on the advertising, for excessive laughter is the likely consequence of seeing The Haunted Garden, as performed Friday night at Arduaine. Ever the masters of outlandish and outrageous characters, TWTC were in their element with this offering, it would invidious to single anyone out, but the lunatic Madam Rcarty character is a sublime caricature, and the voice affected for another role was teeth curingly awful. There will be those amongst you who have not yet seen a WTC production, how empty your lives must be!”

Thanks to another great audience member, Laura Gray, for sharing her photos from the event!

On Saturday 17th of August, our team headed to Tarbert, Loch Fyne, to debut original TWTC piece, ‘Two Thirds Fish’, as part of the Tarbert Harbour Authority’s Centenary celebrations! Written by TWTC’s very own Artistic Director and In-House Playwright Sadie Dixon-Spain, ‘Two Thirds Fish’ explores the history of Tarbert Harbour to life, introducing the audience to iconic characters from the area’s past.

Sadie Dixon-Spain, Colin Little, and Dougie Walker rehearse ‘Two Thirds Fish’, with the stunning Tarbert Harbour in the background.

Our weekend bonanza of outdoor theatre concluded last night, Sunday 18th of August, at Finlaystone Country Estate in Langbank, where TWTC hosted a ‘Conference of the Faeries’ and delved into the world of Shakespeare! Our fabulous audience joined us on a journey around the Estate like no other, as TWTC brought to life a ‘Midsummer Nights Dream’, in true Walking Theatre style! Queen Titania could be heard singing in the treetops, and Puck appeared from dwelling in the undergrowth!
